Karey Patterson
Principal Director
Karey loves working with the NTech crew and our clients. His primary responsibility at NTech is to ensure high quality output, on-time and within budget while ensuring we enjoy what we do. Karey holds B. Bus (Hons) and MEd (T&D) degrees with majors in computing, business management and marketing. He has a wide range of industry experience and has completed post-graduate (Masters) research into usability, interface design and navigational systems with particular reference to large-scale Web sites.
Having worked on over 700 Web and new media projects since 1995, Karey has produced and published numerous research papers on Web based technical topics. He combines this experience with his knowledge of real world practical implementation. He has extensive expertise in project management, video and digital media production.
Capitalising on his workplace and academic experience he has taught university level management, computing and marketing (including electronic marketing) subjects and has been a guest lecturer speaking to both visual arts and music students in the areas of branding, typography and music industry marketing.
He has also been involved with the World Wide Web Convention and AusWeb conference series as Vendors Track Chair, conference committee member and workshop presenter and has served on the board of directors of several organisations. He has given talks and presented his research and business strategies around the world, working in China, the US, Europe and South Pacific, to audiences as diverse as The Music Managers Forum, The Royal Australian Army, IW3C2 Conferences and Melbourne University.
In 2002, Karey was presented with a Platinum Award for his work in promoting our client Grinspoon and received a letter of thanks from Robert Cailliau for his work with IW3C2. Michael Harrison
Project Manager/Senior Analyst
Michael completed his Bachelor of Informatics - now known as a Bachelor of Information Technology - in 1991 at Griffith University Queensland (Nathan Campus). He majored in Software Engineering and Micro Electronics. After graduation Michael went on to work in industrial automation as a C++/SCADA analyst/programmer. He worked in this field for six years creating automated systems for shipping lochs to wood drying kilns to animal feed production.
After proving himself in that arena he made the transitioned in late 1997 into the now well known world of the Internet as a Web analyst/programmer and designer. Still keeping his hand in the industrial automation arena, he worked to design and develop SCADA systems from the ground up with integration of those systems to the Internet most notably the National Livestock Identification Scheme. He also helped develop and assists in the maintenance of sites such as Powderfinger's official website, gaining two ONYA awards in the process.
In late 1999, Michael worked on ever looming y2k bug and started his entry into high security websites and e-commerce. He successfully designed and developed both of Alinta's (formally know as Duke Energy Australia) B2B customer web sites for the Trading and Marketing and Pipeline Operations. He went on to work for Alinta as a Senior Analyst/Programmer. During his time there he helped manage, design and develop a number of key business systems around e-commerce. He also acted as the technical architect for Duke Energy International Asia Pacific, identifying synergies for key business applications.

Rod Byrnes

Rod 'Pat' Byrnes has been working with NTech Media since its inception. He has many years of experience with the Internet since 1990 and the Web since 1993. During that time Rod has proven himself to be a valuable team member in a variety of responsible positions. Rod has also been involved in academic pursuits since the early 1990s. He has lectured in several different fields, produced a number of academic publications and presented papers and workshops at various conferences. Rod is currently studying for a Masters degree in Education, in which he is researching the use of assessment via the Web.

- Nornet (one of the Northern Rivers first ISPs)
- NTL (an American telecommunications company, also based in England)

Karen Hanna
PA to Director and Office Manager
A passionate "people person" and performer [who likes alliteration], Karen completed her Bachelor of Business in 1999 and has spent the past 10 years in Event Management, primarily in the higher education sector. This high pressure and people filled industry have resulted in her highly developed organisational, project management and administration skills.
In her spare time, between work and three teenage children, Karen loves to sing jazz, play her piano and work on her own musical compositions.
Jared Baxter
Team Leader
Jared graduated from Southern Cross University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Information Technology, majoring in Software Engineering. A penchant for programming coupled with a background in client & technical support provides Jared with the skills and drive to provide the quality of service that NTech is renowned for.
First being introduced to computers via a Commodore 64, Jared's interest in both programming and gaming were quick to set in, and much of his time now is spent gaming and watching anime.

Scott Connolly
Team Leader
Scott completed a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Computing in 1997 at Southern Cross University, Lismore. Since then he has worked with a diverse range of projects and industries in Australia, and abroad, specifically Canada and the UK. Scott specialises in web based applications, and brings a broad background of knowledge and skills to the NTech team.
Sefton Hellawell
Team Leader
Since first programming in BASIC on the c64 Sefton has wanted to be a professional programmer. At NTech he gets to work on cutting edge projects with great support from highly skilled and experienced senior software developers. Sefton is very excited about Linux and emerging web technologies that bring rich applications to the Internet.
Lenny Stewart
Programmer/Flash and Web Development
Lenny Stewart recently began work with NTech Media to gain workplace experience and help pay the cost of university. Lenny has loved working with computers ever since he discovered Mac Classics at school and has been hooked ever since. He is currently learning new programming languages and is helping to develop an intranet for NTech Media. In his spare time Lenny enjoys playing RPGs and computer games.
Peter Jeffrey

Peter's background in design spans fifteen years, bringing with it a deep perspective of the built environment - invaluable in the translation of graphic design concepts to reality. He has extensive experience conceptualising corporate identity and commercial branding. He has also worked for many years as an interior designer, having worked with many of Sydney's leading architecture and interior design firms.

A consummate professional Chris is a skilled Website developer with significant experience in the design and development of fantastic websites. He has a wide range of skills working with various content management systems and software.

Robert Sampson
Web Development/Technical Support
Robert began his traineeship working for NTech Media early 2007 (now completed!), he is looking forward to a prosperous career in the field of Information Technology with the help of Karey and all of the staff here at NTech Media. In his spare time Robert likes to play video games, swim (if its hot and there’s water nearby), play bass guitar (at home).
As part of our committment to ongoing education and quality, our team research and write about important issues affecting our industry.
